Archiving Policy
Introduction:
"Journal for Social Science Studies" (JS3) is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content. This archiving policy outlines the procedures and mechanisms for ensuring that published articles and associated materials are permanently accessible to readers and researchers.
Scope:
This policy applies to all published content in JS3, including articles, reviews, editorials, and any additional materials associated with published articles, such as datasets, appendices, and supplementary information.
Archiving Methods:
JS3 utilizes multiple methods to ensure the long-term archiving of its content:
- Institutional Repository: JS3 maintains its own institutional repository where all published content is archived in perpetuity. This repository is regularly backed up and accessible to readers through the journal website.
- LOCKSS System: JS3 utilizes the LOCKSS system, a distributed preservation network, to ensure redundancy and disaster recovery. Participating libraries and institutions can create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.
- External Repositories: JS3 encourages authors to deposit their published articles in relevant subject-specific repositories, such as PubMed Central, Social Science Research Network (SSRN), or institutional repositories.
- Wayback Machine: JS3 content is archived by the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, providing an additional layer of preservation and access in case of website disruptions.
- Creative Commons License: JS3 publishes articles under a Creative Commons license that allows non-commercial reuse and sharing of the content, further facilitating its long-term accessibility.
Author Responsibilities:
- Authors are encouraged to deposit their published articles in relevant subject-specific repositories and institutional repositories.
- Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the archived materials.
- Authors retain the copyright of their work, and JS3 will only archive materials with the author's consent.
Journal Responsibilities:
- JS3 will maintain and update its institutional repository to ensure the long-term accessibility of all published content.
- JS3 will participate in the LOCKSS system to ensure redundancy and disaster recovery.
- JS3 will provide clear and easy-to-follow instructions to authors on archiving their work.
- JS3 will monitor and update this archiving policy as necessary to ensure its effectiveness.
