Withdrawal Policy
The Journal for Social Science Studies (JSSS) understands that unforeseen circumstances may arise necessitating the withdrawal of a manuscript. This policy outlines the procedures for withdrawing a manuscript at various stages of the publication process.
1. Pre-Review Withdrawal:
- Authors may withdraw their manuscript at any point before the review process begins without penalty.
- To withdraw, the corresponding author must submit a written request to the editorial office, clearly stating the manuscript title and author names.
- The editorial office will acknowledge the withdrawal and remove the manuscript from the submission system.
2. Post-Review Withdrawal:
- Once the review process has begun, authors may withdraw their manuscript, but considerations may apply.
- Withdrawal requests before a final decision (accept, reject, revise) will be reviewed by the editor-in-chief. The editor-in-chief may seek input from reviewers if necessary.
- Withdrawal requests after a final decision will only be considered under exceptional circumstances and require justification from the authors.
- The editor-in-chief will make a final decision on the withdrawal request, taking into account the stage of the review process, reviewer feedback, and potential impact on the journal.
- Withdrawal after acceptance and before publication may incur a withdrawal fee to cover administrative costs.
3. Post-Publication Withdrawal:
- Withdrawal of a published article is generally not permitted.
- In exceptional cases, where there are serious ethical concerns or factual errors, the editor-in-chief may consider retraction or publication of a correction notice.
- Such decisions will be made in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
